Netflix is without a doubt the world's leading provider of on-demand movies and television shows, and it's a service that continues to extend its reach to countries all over the world.

Available in a variety of territories, the content has some fantastic gems embedded within it, and so we've taken a look at just five of the must-see Netflix series available - or soon to be available - on the platform to consumers.

House of Cards

One of the biggest and most popular titles on Netflix, House of Cards has proved that something can be remade and improved upon immeasurably. After ordering two seasons from the get-go, the content provider clearly had huge confidence with the writers and a cast that includes Kevin Spacey, in a political thriller that goes deep into the murky waters of politics and journalism in America.

Orange is the New Black

Jenji Kohan here provides the official most-successful series to hit Netflix, telling the story of a white-collar criminal - Piper Kerman - whose past catches up with her and lands her in a tough women's prison. Dark yet hilarious at times, an ensemble cast prove that no true lead is needed to ensure a show is resonant and prominent in the industry.

Better Call Saul

Pushed back multiple times, critics are now starting to see glimpses of Better Call Saul with some even claiming it's better than the show that created it - Breaking Bad. Crooked lawyer Saul Goodman's past is to be explored here as Vince Gilligan steps into the title role of a series that was at first going to be a comedy, but soon developed into a serious drama. Better Call Saul hits Netflix shortly after its AMC premiere in America on February 8.

Marco Polo

Offering a look into the previously unexplored origins of Marco Polo, the explorer's early life is detailed as he steps into the role of a ward of 13th century Mongol emperor Kublai Khan. Lorenzo Richelmy takes the lead role in a sexy and political storyline with spectacular battle scenes.

The Killing

Having streamed its final episode, this is perfect for those of you who enjoy a good binge watch, with five seasons available and closure instantly at hand. It's a crime thriller originally from Scandinavia, and another show proving that remakes can sometimes do incredibly well.
