Game of Thrones returns in April

The first trailer for the fourth season of Game of Thrones has been released by HBO, and what a cracker it's set to be.

"The war's not won." says Jaime to his secret son Joffrey, and his point is proven throughout when we see more deaths, violence and fighting in this short clip than in most other series' entire seasons.

Daenerys' fiery Targaryen side is becoming more prominent as she slips ever closer to being a destructive leader, rather than a loving and caring one: "They can live in my new world or they can die in their old one." she spits.

"It's tempting to see your enemies as evil, but there's good and evil on both sides in every war ever fought." Ser Jorah Mormant says in a separate scene - but will anymore sides be crushed after the deaths of loved Stark characters and their army at the end of season three?

All's not going well with the Lannisters at King's Landing - Joffrey seems to be delusional beyond belief, Tyrion's in chains and confesses "I don't think I'm talking my way out of this one.", and Cersei lashes out at her father over how the family should proceed.

A wedding does appear to be going ahead however, with Joffrey finally getting to marry Margaery Tyrell after casting Sansa aside.

"If you want justice, you've come to the wrong place." Tyrion says, signing out the minute and three quarter teaser, and I'm more excited for this season of the show than I ever have been before. Roll on April.

Need to catch up? The complete third season of Game of Thrones is released to DVD and Blu-Ray on February 17.
