NOTE: Spoilers

It's been a few months now since the fifth season of Game of Thrones came to an end, and ever since, fans of the franchise have been left pondering the fate of one of the show's most beloved characters, Jon Snow.

In the season five finale, we saw the Night's Watch turn on their Lord Commander, with Snow receiving several shivs to the chest and little Olly dealing the final blow, which left Jon bleeding out and worldwide fans emotionally unstable. The curly-locked bastard Stark boy was gone and that's all there was to it. Or at least, that's what HBO would have the audience believe.

Before long though, with filming of the sixth season underway, pictures started to emerge of Kit Harington in and around locations used for recording. Could he really only be there to film a funeral scene or flashback? HBO thought they'd answer the questions for the fans.

First, at the back-end of November we all saw a poster uploaded to Game of Thrones' many social media outlets, featuring Jon with his eyes down and blood on his face. "He's ALIVE!" screamed the fans, but could we really trust the show that manages to continously pull the rug from under our feet?

Then this week came a brand new teaser trailer. The show decided to get under the skin of all those watching once more, not only alluding to the fact that Jon Snow may actually be alive, but giving us a glimpse of the return of Bran Stark.

"The past is already written. The ink is dry." This is what we're told whilst we see a fast montage of all the death and torment we've experienced on the show to-date. But are we still being fooled, or is the show treating us with a little more compassion than it does its own characters?

Now the question shifts from whether or not Jon is dead to how is he back on his feet? Has Melisandre had a hand in bringing him back, or is Bran's special Warg power able to do the seemingly impossible?

"They have no idea what's going to happen" says Isaac Hempstead Wright, in character as Bran, and he's correct.

We'll all find out in April, when Game of Thrones returns for its sixth season.
