Guess what may be coming to Dancing with the Stars.

Hairspray! I hear producers of ABC's hit competition show have approached the people behind the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical about snagging some of its stars for an appearance on the show.Makes complete sense to me. Hairspray's story follows chubby girl Tracy Turnblad's quest to land a spot on an American Bandstand-like dance show. It would be quite a hoot to see John Travolta in his Edna Turnblad drag (if you haven't heard by now, Travolta takes a cross-dressing turn to play Tracy's housecoat-wearing mom in the flick) waltzing across the dance floor. If Travolta doesn't do it, Hairspray's got plenty of other big-name stars, like Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer and James Marsden.I'm told talks are in the very early stages, but I'm guessing if all goes well, Hairspray would pop on Dancing toward the end of the season because the movie doesn't hit theaters until July. Hairspray producers, no doubt, would want the Dancing appearance to help ticket sales, so they'd choose a date as close as possible to opening weekend.Marc Malkin E Entertainment
