The first trailer has been released for comedian Chris O’Dowd’s latest comedy show Moone Boy.

Titled Moone Boy, the show will be semi-biographical show about a young boy called Martin learning to deal with life through having an imaginary friend named Sean (played by O’Dowd himself).

The IT Crowd and Bridesmaids star will also be co-writing the show, which will also feature animation from the acclaimed tudio behind Oscar nominated film The Secret Of Kells.

O’Dowd said that “Moone Boy is a fantastic comedy which centres on a ten-year-old boy who has an imaginary friend. It is set in the late eighties/early nineties and all of the experiences are ones that I had. It's a really funny show which has loads of animation and a number of laughs that I hope people will love.

“It was essential to film in Ireland and what was great about Sky was they wanted us to film here and they were really supportive. That wouldn't have happened at any other channel.”

After O’Dowd was confirmed to be the star of the BBC’s upcoming Christopher Guest created sitcom Family Tree, and continued calls coming in from Hollywood, it seems the Irish comedian’s all-out assault on the funny side of entertainment isn’t losing steam any time soon.

Moone Boy starts this September on Sky 1 and already has a second series greenlit.
