Alex James Voted Off U.K. Opera Show

Blur Star Alex James' classical music dream has died - he was voted off U.K. reality series Popstar To Operastar on the show's debut episode.

Rocker James has been in tough rehearsals under the watchful eye of Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins, and went up against singers including Jimmy Osmond and McFly star Danny Jones on Friday (15Jan10) night.

His high-energy performance of classic Largo Al Factotum entertained the judges, with Meat Loaf telling him: "That was the best opera by any rock bass player in the world."

However, the viewers disagreed and voted him off.

James said, "I enjoyed every minute. I'll never stop singing."
