Barbara Walters Recovering Well

Veteran U.S. newswoman Barbara Walters is recovering "well" following heart surgery.

The 80 year old underwent surgery this week (ends16May10) to replace a faulty heart valve, after announcing news of her condition on TV talk show The View on Monday (10May10).

A rep for the star has now confirmed the operation was a success and Walters is recovering.

A statement, released to the New York Daily News, reads, "(She is) recovering as expected. (Her) surgery went well and the doctors are very pleased with the outcome."
