Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson

Alan Halsall has been emotional since finding out he's going to become a father.

The 'Coronation Street' star - who plays loveable mechanic Tyrone Dobbs on the soap - keeps bursting into tears at the thought of having a baby daughter, much to the surprise of his wife Lucy-Jo Hudson.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I screamed when we found out the baby was a girl, but Al cried. I'd only seen him cry once before - on our wedding day. Then he got teary again during the 4D scan he bought me for my 30th birthday.

"He'll definitely cry at the birth. It's like he's tapped into an emotion he didn't have before. He sits next to me and puts his head on my bump."

The couple - who met nine years ago when Lucy-Jo was cast as Katy Harris on 'Corrie' - are looking forward to the birth in August and are making the most of spending time together since Alan has been given time off from the show.

The 30-year-old actor has been taking a well-earned break since filming wrapped on his hard-hitting domestic abuse storyline, which saw Tyrone get violently bullied and beaten by his girlfriend Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede).

Lucy-Jo added: "That storyline was really tiring for him so he's only been going in twice a week. It's beautiful to have him around more."
