Andy Murray is "embarrassed" his mother Judy will appear on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The tennis pro is reportedly desperate to avoid attending the live shows in support of his 54-year-old mother and is less than pleased that she has signed up for the BBC One ballroom dancing competition.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "He's embarrassed, mortified and doing everything he can to avoid being dragged to a live show.

"It's all a bit OTT for him. He likes his downtime when he's not on the court unless it's charity stuff."

It's also claimed tennis coach Judy lied to the Wimbledon champion about taking part, telling Andy, 26, she wouldn't be showing off her dance moves on primetime TV.

The athlete apparently responded: "Thank God, you'd be absolutely terrible."

Despite her son's protests, Judy is eager to take part on the popular programme and doesn't care if Andy is embarrassed.

The source added: "Of course he thinks the world of his mum, but she definitely is her own woman and doesn't give two hoots about embarrassing him or his brother Jamie. She just wants to have fun. She loves 'Strictly'."

Judy will be joined on the new series by Mark Wright, 'EastEnders' star Jake Wood, 'Casualty' actress Sunetra Sarker and Blue singer Simon Webbe.
