The 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' co-hosts beat off competition from the former 'Good Morning Britain' presenter, who received some boos when his name was read out as one of the nominees at last night's (09.09.21) NTAs, and the pair admitted afterwards they didn't need to speak about Piers because "the room said it all".

Speaking backstage, Ant said: "I don’t think we need to say anything about Piers Morgan.

"The room said it all when his name was mentioned.

"It’s not about him tonight."

Piers - who was widely praised during the pandemic for grilling politicians on 'GMB', until he quit the show earlier this year - stayed away from the ceremony at London's The O2, and the TV host appeared to hint he felt he had done more in his role than Ant and Dec.

He tweeted: "Wow! What a shock! Congrats to Ant & Dec. Thoroughly deserved 20th consecutive win - the way they held those jungle contestants to account during the pandemic was absolutely brilliant. Clapping hands sign#ntas (sic)"

Piers hinted earlier in the day that he wouldn't be at the ceremony.

He wrote: "The @OfficialNTAs asked me who would accept the award on my behalf if I won Presenter of the Year.

‘If I’ve won, I’ll come down and accept it myself,’ I replied excitedly, rapidly dusting off my Tux and tickling my speech.

Since then, deafening silence. (sic)"

And he jokingly claimed Ant and Dec have been "cheating" by winning the accolade.

He tweeted: "There are two of them and it’s a singular award, ‘Presenter of the Year.’"

Following their win, Ant and Dec admitted they were "unbelievably grateful" to fans for voting for them.

Ant said: "This one means the most. Twenty years. This is really, really special. You have no idea how special this is."

The pair also beat off competition from Bradley Walsh, Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond in the category.
