Ant & Dec have reportedly been dropped from 'Saturday Night Takeaway' in the US.

Ant & Dec's popular game show 'Saturday Night Takeaway' is set to take the US by storm, but reports say the pair not wanted

The TV duo are huge stars in the UK, but bosses at a number of networks in the States - who are keen to adapt their series for a new audience - don't consider them viable hosts.

An insider told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "There is a lot of buzz about 'Saturday Night Takeaway'. Talent and reality shows are currently dominating prime time TV in America and people are looking for new ideas.

"Quizzes and game shows were a dying breed but many networks feel there is an opportunity for some different style to take off. 'SNT' could be just that.

"But Ant & Dec just aren't famous enough in the US to host it."

It is said fellow Brit and former 'SMTV Live' host Cat Deeley is in the running to replace them for the new version of their popular show.

The source added: "The presenter will be key to the show's success, so networks understandably don't want to risk two unknown faces from the UK, especially as US audiences can't understand what they are saying.

"Cat, however, is a good choice and is loved by the team behind 'SNT.' "
