Television personality Anthea Turner is doing her part in the battle against cancer by joining hundreds of enthusiastic fundraisers from across the country today (October 12), taking on an abseil challenge for Stand Up To Cancer.

Running up three iconic and tall buildings in London - The Gherkin, Salesforce Tower and 200 Aldersgate - Anthea and the runners tackled 1,969 stairs before abseiling down the final tower in a daring and exhiliarating event.

Last year saw over £230,000 raised for Stand Up To Cancer with the same London 3 Peaks challenge, a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 to accelerate new cancer treatments to patients in a bid to save more lives.

This month sees the return of Stand Up To Cancer, with several fundraising events taking place throughout the month including special programming from Channel 4, such as a celebrity episode of First Dates, broadcasting tonight on the channel at 9pm.
