The BBC announced in January that Brendon would be axed from the dancing competition after 15 years, and former co-star Anton has admitted that while he'll miss having his friend around the studio, the show must go on.

He said: "We're going to miss Brendan, he's such a big part of the show and has been for the past 15 years.

"The show rolls on."

Anton went on to suggest that there was no specific reason behind Brendon's abrupt.

Instead, he explained that the nature of the show is to constantly introduce new professionals to the public.

Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, Anton continued: "Len [Goodman] left the year before and so that's just the nature of the show actually. It's just rolls on. As much as we miss our familiar faces, somebody else will come in and we will start to enjoy them as well.

"We've have lots of people throughout the years come and go on 'Strictly Come Dancing'. Not one has been there as long as Brendan but Len was there from the beginning and he's left. Someone else will come in. It's business we call show isn't it?"

However, there doesn't appear to be any bad blood between the former 'Strictly' star and the rest of the show's cast, as Brendon paid a visit to the show's table at the TRICC awards earlier this month.

Anton said: "We had a table because 'Strictly' was up for an award so Brendan came over and said 'Hi', it was lovely to see and everyone was happy to see him."

And Anton thinks Piers Morgan would be a "brilliant" contestant for the next show, after the TV presenter recently joked about the idea.

Anton gushed: "I think he would be a wonderful signing for Strictly, he would be hilarious. I think he would be great fun and that's part and parcel of 'Strictly'. I would love him to do it so I could see how well he does.

"He wouldn't care about anybody else, he would do it because he wants to do it. So I don't know whether he'll do it or not but it would be hilarious. He would be just brilliant on the show."
