Ben Shephard has signed up to present new ITV show 'Mystery Map'.

The TV host will appear alongside Julia Bradbury on the factual programme, which will explore the origins behind some of the most intriguing and unexplained mysteries in the UK.

Ben and Julia will hit the road and investigate several unsolved cases, such as how a set of mystery footprints 100 miles long came about in Devon one snowy night in 1855, how the body of a man who supposedly crashed his plane into the sea end up atop a nearby hill, as well as the Beast of Bodmin Moor.

The series will use reconstructions to illustrate the events, and will also see the team meet original witnesses, experts and historians.

Ben said: "I've always been fascinated by secret histories, unanswered questions and bizarre occurrences, so I see me and Julia as the new Starsky and Hutch tearing around the country hunting down the truth in chunky knit cardigans!"

Julia was similarly excited, adding: "I am hugely excited to be presenting 'Mystery Map' with Ben. I've always been intrigued by the strange and unexplained so I can't wait to hit the road to investigate some of the best mysteries this country has to offer."

'Mystery Map' will explore England's heritage as well as aim to flare up discussion and intrigue new viewers.

Jo Clinton-Davis, Controller of Factual at ITV, said: "We may be a small island but Britain still overflows with some of the world's most fascinating unsolved mysteries. Julia and Ben are the perfect couple to get behind this extraordinary part of our hidden heritage".
