Milk Man Tray advert

The mysterious 80s advertising icon, known for his love of rollneck jumpers and spy-like persona, will make his first return to TV screens tonight (09.10.15) after 13 years away and now the world famous chocolate brand has begun a search for a new successor.

James Coombes - who portrayed the daredevil in 1987 - will pull on his ensemble one last time for the advert, which will air at 5:15pm, as he hunts for "a new hero to deliver the famous box" to mark the selection box's 100th anniversary.

He said of the challenge: "I loved this role the first time around and nothing has changed since, so I'm sure whoever gets to fill my shoes will be just as delighted."

The advert first hit screens 35 years ago, with the slogan, "All because the lady loves Milk Tray", and saw the famous hero fight with sharks, jump off a cliff and play with death just to deliver a box of sweet treats to a beautiful female.

Auditions are open to both males and females aged over 18, with the new icon being unveiled at the beginning of 2016.
