The 39-year-old TV presenter has signed up to host 'The Surjury', which will see contestants try to convince a 12-strong jury of the public that they should be awarded pricey cosmetic surgery for free.

The description from Channel 4 reads: "From bum-lifts to nose jobs, sculpted abs to breast enlargements, 'The Surjury' allows people to explore their choices more thoroughly."

Ross McCarthy, executive producer for show creators Gobstopper Television, added: "This is a totally new way of doing peer-to- peer advice.

"Our pitchers will either get the surgery they've always wanted, or a massive boost in confidence when the public rules they don't need work at all!"

Caroline took to Instagram to announce the show, writing: "Over the mooooooon to be hosting my first Channel 4 show 'The Surjury'."

Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon told Deadline: "This is not intended to be exploitative and tawdry but is bringing to the fore an important issue in society today."

"There are huge volumes of cosmetic surgery in society and there have been shows dealing with cosmetic surgery for decades, such as Extreme Makeover. The question is can we create a useful discussion about what that means in society and whether the current rates of cosmetic surgery are acceptable."

Becky Cadman Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor, Channel 4 said: "We're delighted to have Caroline on board. To many, cosmetic surgery can seem like a 'quick fix' to a problem, but with Caroline and the Jury's help, this new series looks at who wants it, and why - allowing those who make a strong enough case to their peers, to undergo the procedure of their choice. The show will neither glamorise nor condemn their choices: the aim is instead to interrogate the realities."

Ross added: "Caroline is the perfect safe pair of hands for a format that taps into the social phenomenon of elective surgery."

Meanwhile, Deadline has revealed that Gobstopped Television is already working on a US remake of the show.
