The former 'Coronation Street' actress - who played Eva Price on the cobbles from 2011 to 2018 - will play life coach Donna Dium in the upcoming television adaptation of a play she wrote and appeared in last year during lockdown.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "Cath has wanted to show she’s not just a talented actress but writer too and she’s really proud of this project.

"The stars that she has pulled in already shows just how highly-regarded she is, and it is set to be a great series. The play was a big success so hopefully it is equally successful on the small screen.

“Cath is known for being a no-nonsense barmaid in 'Corrie', but now, as a life coach, she will be seen dishing out a load of old b******* to clients instead.”

Catherine will be joined by her former 'Scarborough' co-star Jason Manford, as well as 'I'd Do Anything' winner Jodie Prenger and 'EastEnders' actress Nina Wadia.

Filming for the project - which doesn't have a confirmed broadcaster yet - started in Leeds this week.

She wrote on Instagram: "Well things just got very exciting!! Great day on set with two of my all time faves on this here earth!

"The super talented and brilliant @msjodieprenger and @jasonmanford ... pretty god damn excited right now! #grateful #tv #comedy (sic)"

The 37-year-old star wrote the play during lockdown and raised money for the UK arts industry with a performance she filmed in an empty theatre.

The production follows life coach and self-taught shamaness Donna and her assistant Ada as they look to contact the spiritual world.
