The 'Busted' singer, 37, - who has been married to Anna Barnard since 2014 and has Arlo, seven, as well as four-year-old Jago with her - had been taking part in the ITV1 competition as Rhino and eventually won the whole series on Saturday (18.02.23) after managing to conceal his identity over the course of several episodes but explained that his sons were confused because they would watch the pre-recorded show together as a family and they couldn't understand how he was "in the telly" and at home at the same time.

He said: "I didn't tell anyone. Well, I told my wife and then I did try and keep it a secret but from the first moment that we watched it as a family, my two boys were like 'That's you, daddy!'

"They found it weird though, the reason that they questioned it is that because it was filmed a while ago and isn't actually live, they couldn't figure out how I was watching it with them and I was in the TV at the same time, that flummoxed them a bit. But throughout the whole time, they kept saying 'I know it's you, daddy!'"

The 'Year 3000' hitmaker - who beat Kaiser Chiefs star Ricky Wilson to the title of winner after he was unmasked as Phoenix during the final - went on to add that he chose his Rhino costume as a tribute to his wife, who was born in Kenya before admitting that he was "absolutely terrified" at the thought of being on the show.

Speaking on ITV's Lorraine, he added: "We did get to choose our costumes. They had a few sketches of ideas and I saw the rhino. I was like 'Oh that's awesome' because my wife grew up in Kenya and I've been on some amazing safaris with her and the kids and stuff so I thought it would be a nice way to represent them. It's an awesome outfit, to be fair. The whole point of the show is to be as off the wall as possible, I think that really works. But I was absolutely terrified! It was so alien being in this costume singing songs that I didn't know so well."
