Charlotte Crosby hates Christmas

The 33-year-old star - who has 14-month-old daughter Alba-Jean with fiance Jake Ankers - will be spending this year's holiday in the Maldives because she was determined to escape the "hell hole" of the festive season.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I hate Christmas. I hate Christmas. I hate it with a passion.

"This is the only year I've ever looked forward to Christmas.

"And that is because for everyone's Christmas present, I told them that we can either get presents or I will book a family holiday to get us all out of this Hell hole that we call Christmas.

"So, everyone opted for getting out of the Hell hole of Christmas, and we are off to the Maldives.

"So, me, my mum, my dad, my little brother, Jake and Alba, we get on a flight on Christmas. We avoid all of Christmas Day and we fly, and we just escape. And we're all looking forward to it so much."

Charlotte then theorised that the reason she never enjoyed Christmas was because her family didn’t have a particularly interesting way to celebrate it, leaving her to create her own traditions.

She said: "Maybe this is the reason I hate it. We don't have any funny, strange Christmas traditions.

"The Christmas tradition for me for the last, let's say, 18 years of my life has to be get as drunk as possible on Christmas Eve and stay in bed all of Christmas Day. And I made that a tradition.

"I kept up with that tradition so many years."

Charlotte concluded that she wants to change her attitude about the festive season so she can create memories with her family.

She said: "[It] is something that I'm actually planning on, like changing because I want to make lots of traditions with Alba growing up, because I think this non-tradition thing has made us feel like, ‘I hate Christmas’, whereas Halloween and stuff as a family, we used to all have always have a Halloween party, and Bonfire Night was always exciting.

"But Christmas just wasn't that, and I don't know why, but I'm gonna make sure that I change all of this. And I want Alba to think that every season is the best thing and she can't wait for them. "

'Charlotte in Sunderland' is still streaming on BBC iPlayer.
