Multiple Emmy-award winner Dick Wolf is back with his brand new medical drama Chicago Med, and after picking up some solid reviews in the US, the show has now found a home in the UK on Universal Channel, following the likes of Bates Motel and How To Get Away With Murder onto the network.

As part of the Chicago franchise that the world's fallen in love with, the show will delve into the emotionally charged environment of the city's new state-of-the-art trauma centre, following the lives of the doctors, nurses and staff who face daily chaos head-on in a bid to save the lives of others.

Familiar characters from Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. will be brought onto the show periodically throughout the series, and over the first 13 episodes viewers will get to grips with the cutting-edge medicine and dramatic storylines involved.

Premiering in the US earlier this year on NBC, Chicago Med ranked #1 in its time period and became the #1 scripted programme for the entire night amongst adults 18-49.

Oliver Pratt, Colin Donnell, S. Epatha Merkerson, Torrey DeVitto, Yaya De Costa, Nick Gehlfuss, Brian Tee and Rachel DiPillo all star.

Managing Director, UK & Emerging Markets at NBCUniversal International Networks, Colin McLeod commented: "Led by award-winning, high-calibre talent, both on and off-screen, this series is full of personality, powerful characters, and gripping action.

"With the strength of characters at its heart, Chicago Med is a fantastic addition to our character-driven slate. We're proud to launch this exciting new title that delivers on Universal Channel's promise of '100% Characters'."

Chicago Med will premiere in the UK at some point in early 2016.
