Chris Eubank has quit Scared of the Dark

The 56-year-old former professional boxer decided to depart the Channel 4 show - in which celebrities live in a pitch-black bunker for eight days - on Wednesday night's episode (19.04.23), and he exited the dark space without saying goodbye to the remaining seven celebrities.

When asked if he is “afraid of the dark”, Chris said: "I’m afraid of nothing. When you go out to the world, that’s what you’re going into, the dark."

Talking about his decision to leave, he said: "It’s my last day in this construct. The real dark is where I’m going back to, where they need my assistance, whether they know it or not.

"I am an entertainer and I’m sorry but I have other people to look after with my insight."

Chris clashed with several of his fellow 'Scared of the Dark' stars throughout this week's series, including objecting to them using foul language.

On hearing that Chris had decided to leave the show, former 'Love Island' Chloe Burrows said: "Do you know what? I think it’s a pride thing, admitting that he can’t do it and we’re just not his type of people, do you know what I mean?"

Chris McCausland added: "I think he found it difficult in ways he didn’t want to admit."

But Scarlett Moffatt was disappointed Chris didn't say bye to the rest of the group, and feels "gutted" that he didn't stay until the end.

She said: "I just wish he’d f******* said bye. That hurt my feelings.

"I’m shocked that he didn’t see it through till the end because I think he would have really got a lot out of it.

"I’m f****** gutted. I feel like I know as much about him as I did on the outside."

'Scared of the Dark' presenter Danny Dyer has now been left wondering whether others will depart the show early, following Chris' shock exit.

He said: "Dare I say it, he was sort of the fly in the ointment of the group dynamic.

"Could this be a domino effect? Could we start seeing them all fall?"

The final episode of 'Scared of the Dark' airs on Thursday (20.04.23) at 9pm on Channel 4.
