The BBC Radio 2 DJ revealed he'd been working on a "secret" 'Top Gear' project on the weekend but it's now been claimed he's joined forces with axed presenter Jeremy Clarkson for a sketch for the Channel 4 show.

The former 'Top Gear' host - who was sacked by the BBC after he punched a producer in a row over a steak - hasn't been seen on TV since the incident but will make his return in the revival of the 90s show this weekend, the Daily Mirror newspaper reports.

Meanwhile, the 22nd series of the BBC motoring show - which Clarkson presented alongside close pals and colleagues Richard Hammond and James May - has now been completed and is set to air in the coming weeks.

It was previously claimed fans may never get to see the shelved footage after the broadcaster was forced to punish the controversial presenter for his unacceptable behaviour.

Although Clarkson does appear in the remaining episodes, only Hammond and May returned to the aircraft hanger studio in Dunsfold where they usually film in front of a live audience.

The location films, which were shot before the "fracas" between Jeremy and the producer, will be a final opportunity for viewers to see all three presenters on the much-loved motoring show.
