The 72-year-old media personality - who finished third on the first-ever series of the ITV show in 2002 - doesn't agree with the former Health Secretary taking part in the ITV show, and says she didn't feel sorry for him when he was dumped on by creepy-crawlies in last night's (09.11.22) Bushtucker Trial.

She said: "I didn't have any sympathy for him doing that tunnel trial. I just thought, 'You shouldn't be there, you shouldn't be there. I don't care. I'm not interested how you do it, you should not be there.'

"What I found reassuring was the campmates' reaction to him coming in."

Christine also hit out at Matt for "upsetting" some of his fellow campmates by being in the jungle, and insisted he is "extremely lucky" to have headed into camp with fellow latecomer Seann Walsh.

Speaking on 'Lorraine', she added: "I think Matt is extremely lucky that he's got Seann with him, because he's a sort of shield and the, 'We're in this together, we're the latecomers, but we can support each other.'

"But he [Matt] is absolutely horrendous. And if he thinks he's doing himself any good ... words almost fail me.

"He's already upsetting so many of them. They just can't quite believe he's actually there."

Earlier this week, Christine - who is married to former Conservative MP Neil Hamilton - slammed Matt as "shameless" ahead of his 'I'm A Celebrity' stint.

She said: "He's doing it for self-promotion. He's got a book coming out. His ministerial career has hit the buffers. What he seems to forget is he's still a very well-paid member of parliament, paid for by the taxpayer to look after his constituents.

"The idea that he can swan off to the jungle for a month – he’s not going into the camp for a week or so, so he’ll be living in five-star, apparently, luxury while he’s being paid by us, the taxpayer, to represent his constituents.

"I think it's shameless, it’s appalling."
