Helen Flanagan's alter-ego will travel back to Weatherfield from the US in the new year alongside her sister Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent), and upon heading home the police turn up and search their house for substances, but don't find anything.

The girls later discover cocaine in Rosie's bag of sweets, and she insists the drugs were planted on her.

A source said: "Trouble is never far away from the Websters.

"This is the reason they wanted Helen back as Rosie as she immediately brings great storylines with her.

"Rosie tells Sophie someone planted the drugs on her, and is as shocked as her sister when she sees the white powder."

The drugs are to fall into the hands of Ken Barlow's (Bill Roache) grandson Adam (Sam Robertson) who offers to sell them, but their skint father Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) decides to sort out the issue himself.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "The girls panic and decide to bury the drugs but Adam Barlow finds out what they have done and offers to sell the drugs for a fee.

"But, Kevin's business is struggling following an arson attack and he needs money. So he takes matters into his own hands."

Helen will return to the soap after a four-year break, during which she had daughter Matilda, who is 17 months old, with partner Scott Sinclair.

Show boss Kate Oates recently revealed Rosie's return to the cobbles will cause plenty of problems for her sister Sophie.

She previously said: "Rosie is such a colourful character - I thought it'd be great for Sophie. I wanted to see Sophie led up the garden path a little bit and to see her in a bit of trouble.

"And I think that Rosie will cause Sophie a lot of headaches."
