Dannii Minogue is giving out "tough love" on 'Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model'.

The Sky Living show's brand new judge is taking a tough stance with the contestants on the modelling competition, even though she finds the eliminations as emotionally draining as the live ones she endured when she was a mentor on 'The X Factor' UK.

Dannii said: "You don't want to scare [the girls], but you have to be firm with them. Sometimes they come in moaning and that's when you have to give them tough love.

"I walk away from every elimination feeling so drained and upset for the girl who's going home. It's the same on 'The X Factor'. You have show night, which is amazing, and then elimination the following night, and if one of your team goes home, you feel really down."

The 41-year-old star is returning to Simon Cowell's flagship talent show in her native Australia, and can't wait to get back to work after taking time out to look after her two-year-old son Ethan.

She added to heat magazine: "[I'm] so excited! I'm an Australian, so why wouldn't I want to be on the best show out there? I'm a mum and it's time to go back to work!"
