The 'EastEnders' actor tried the national dish of Iceland while filming his new show, 'Danny Dyer's Right Royal Family', and he has advised anyone offered such a meal to reject the opportunity to chow down on the foodstuff, because it was "horrible".

Speaking to BANG Showbiz and other media backstage at the National Television Awards, he said: "I did have a bit of sheep's tongue, it was f***ing wrong, honestly. And fermented shark.

"If someone offers you fermented shark, go home.

"If that's floating about it's horrible. I can still taste it now - I ate it three months ago!"

Danny's new show comes off the back of him finding out he is related to King Edward III and William The Conqueror during a 2016 appearance on 'Who Do You Think You Are?'.

Since then, several people have told him that "we're all related to King Edward III", but he doesn't believe that to be the case.

He added: "There's a lot of people saying we're all related to King Edward III - if that's the case we're all f***ing incestuous.

"I'm fascinated by it all. It's nice to see a working class actor talking about British history."

'Danny Dyer's Right Royal Family' aired last night (23.01.19), during which he had to make a quick off-camera exit after chowing down on some sheep's tongue while living like a Viking.

He said: "This is a lovely bit of grub my fellow Vikings have prepared for me.

"You've gotta think this is how they lived.

"That's how we roll in the old Viking world. We're bang on the old tongue. Yes, oh yes.

"Nice that is. Bit of French mustard wouldn't go amiss, but as tongues ..."
