The 21-year-old star is dating fellow former Islander Jourdan Riane, 24, having previously dumped Yewande Biala and Arabella Chi in the villa - leading to their exits from the show - but he laughed off the idea he is a "bad omen" after he and his beau also got sent home.

Speaking to 'Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp', he said: "Is it my fault? Yeah I've seen a lot of things on Twitter and Instagram circulating calling me the travel agent and I thought it was absolutely hilarious.

"Fingers crossed, now we're out the villa, there's no more bad omens and we can just crack on and be positive."

The nickname was given to Danny by the ITV2 dating show's narrator Iain Stirling after Danny's head kept getting turned in the villa, leaving the previous love interest facing a flight home after they were dumped from the island.

While narrating one show scene, Iain quipped: "Back in the villa, Jourdan's chatting to Danny, or as I like to call him, the travel agent because when people hang around him, they always wind up heading to the airport."

Danny and Jourdan - who have confirmed their relationship is now official - dismissed the idea they are part of a 'showmance'.

She argued: "As much as there's been loads of positivity and love and stuff, there's also been quite a lot of negativity and I don't think either of us would put ourselves through any more negativity and hate just for the sake of a picture on Instagram.

"It's just not worth it. But I don't really care if people don't believe it because we know what it is."

Danny admitted he could see why some people might doubt the strength of their feelings for each other because of the "short amount of time" contestants spend in the villa, but he described their romance as genuine.

He added: "To a certain extent but then, you know, you're in the villa for such a short amount of time, you only know these people for a short amount of time, so feelings aren't that strong and now I'm at a stage with Jourdan where feelings are genuinely strong."

Tune into 'Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp', week days from 6am-10am.
