The 'Loose Women' panellist had to "beg" her then-husband - who she was married to for 24 years - not to divorce her after he found out she kissed a lady the day before they were due to go to Andrew's house for a charity event, which resulted in Tim telling the royal about Denise's snog.

She recalled: "Many, many years ago ... those of you who know I had a slightly hedonistic lifestyle than I do now, having been sober for a lot of years.

"There was a particular night, and I was in my 30s, and I was a little bit tiddly and I snogged a girl.

"Somebody told Tim and he said he was going to divorce me. I had to beg him because this day, and I swear on my kids' lives this is exactly true, we were going to Prince Andrew's house because we were patrons of a charity.

"We were going to his house with the wonderful kids from a charity called Western Spirit, and it was so important. I had to say to Tim, 'I'm so, so, sorry. Please come with me. We can't let the kids down.'

"So he came, and Prince Andrew was there. Tim went up to him and went, 'Sir, Tim Healy, lovely to meet you, I have to leave, me wife's a lesbian.' To Prince Andrew!

"You'd think he'd just said, 'Can I use your toilet?' Andrew was expressionless."

Denise recently locked lips with another woman while filming for her latest TV show, 'Different Girls', in which she plays a lesbian woman who fancies British Prime Minister Theresa May.

Speaking on 'Loose Women', she added: "So it [her on-screen kiss] can't be my first time but that was my only time."
