EastEnders is to launch a new digital spin-off

'The Kimfluencer' will launch on EastEnders' YouTube and Facebook pages, and will see Tameka Empson's character Kim Fox attempt to become a fully-fledged social media influencer.

The nine-part series, which will launch weekly from Friday (06.05.22), will also feature familiar faces from the BBC One soap, including Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley).

Tameka said: "I’m a lucky girl to not only love my job, but I also love playing Kim. Kim is a funny, loving, strong, sensitive, independent "Mother Of Two" who is always trying to be the best she can be and to be a great ‘Influencer’ not only to her family and friends - but the world!

"I am grateful to EastEnders for giving me this opportunity.

"I think there is a bit of Kim in all of us - so embrace your Kim Fox and watch, like and subscribe to 'The Kimfluencer' on YouTube! Hope you enjoy."

Kim will be helped by Howie (Delroy Atkinson), who will be her personal cameraman as she tries her hands at different influencer trends and challenges, such as boxing and upcycling.

She will also have help from some real-life influencers in her vlogs, such as Ella Blake and Mariam Musa, as well as professional boxer Chantelle Cameron.

It's not the first time 'EastEnders' has broadcast an internet spin-off.

From January 2010 to October 2011, 'EastEnders: E20' followed some of the teenage characters in the soap, featuring the likes of Emer Kenny as Zsa Zsa Carter, and Ricky Norwood as Fatboy.
