The BBC One soap will have a Coronation-themed street party in Albert Square on May 1st, as the Walford residents come together to celebrate the spectacle.

The BBC said: "Viewers can expect to see the community spirit of Walford at an all-time high as the residents attempt to leave their drama at the door, but whether the day will go ahead without a hitch is yet to be revealed."

Earlier on Monday May 1st, 'The One Show' will kick off the BBC's Coronation week coverage with a one-hour special.

Elsewhere, there will be 'Antiques Roadshow' and 'Songs of Praise' Coronation specials, as well as 'Sing For The King: The Search for the Coronation Choir'.

The king and Queen Consort Camilla are no strangers to Albert Square.

Last year, the BBC soap revealed Charles and Camilla - who were then the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, prior to Charles' mother Queen Elizabeth's death in September aged 96 - had filmed an 'EastEnders' cameo ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.

Danny Dyer - who played Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter at the time - told the London Evening Standard newspaper: "They were really good, they pulled it out of the bag.

"We had 20 minutes with them. We rehearsed it, they got out of the motor, we did it and then they left."

Following the queen's death, 'EastEnders' paid tribute to the late monarch with a special scene.

Before the usual titles had run, the BBC Soap began with soap matriarchs Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Wright) standing around a picture of the late monarch, who died aged 96 last Thursday (08.09.22), in The Queen Victoria pub.

Denise said: "She has been there our whole lives, it’s like she’s everything we have ever known."

Kathy added: "It just feels so personal, just devastating, it’s like we have lost our nan."

Linda - who is a huge fan of the royal family - said: "We have ... we have all lost our nan. She dedicated her entire life to serving us."

The trio also discussed last year's visit to Albert Square by Charles and Camilla.

They all toasted the new king, saying: "Long live the king."
