The loveable landlord - portrayed by Danny Dyer - is pushed over the edge later this week when he picks up a chair and swings it across his living room after his little one is knocked backwards out of his high chair during a furious family row.

A spy said: "He picks up a chair and smashes it to pieces! It's a moment that stuns everybody - it's clear Mick has been pushed over the edge. He can't and won't take any more."

Baby Ollie gets caught up in the crossfire of siblings Lee and Nancy (Danny-Boy Hatchard and Maddy Hill, respectively) after they come to blows when Mick and his wife Linda (Kellie Bright) force them to bury the hatchet over a family meal on Mother's Day.

But it all ends in disaster when the blonde beauty refuses to get over her depressive brother swiping her job.

The insider said: "It's a horrible situation because family and loyalty mean so much to the Carters. Nancy is deeply hurt by what Lee did, and she can't help but lash out. But the bad blood between them is also hurting other people."

But as one door closes, another opens as Mick and Linda's other son Johnny - played by Ted Reilly - is set to return later this month after globe-trotting with his boyfriend.

Executive producer Dominic said recently: "As the family embark on their next big storyline to take them through 2016, it felt wrong not to have Johnny back to play a big part in that - and learn everything that has happened while he has been away."
