Having come together in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson aka The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) will team up on a global adventure testing not just their abilities, but their patience.

Such is the premise for new Marvel series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, coming exclusively to Disney+ in March 2021.

As can be seen in the new first look trailer for the show, head writer Malcolm Spellman is combining that classic Marvel Cinematic Universe humour with a potentially-deadly storyline for our titular heroes, making for some compelling viewing that will undoubtedly leave us all on the edge of our seats.

One of the most exciting things about the teaser however, is the fact we see both Falcon and Winter Soldier using Captain America’s shield. Though Falcon seemed to give it back to Chris Evans’ character after he said he would be able to put it to use, it would seem that it’s made its way back into his hands; and those of Barnes!

Over six episodes, we’re sure director Kari Skogland will deliver a bunch of other surprises.

We know that Daniel Brühl is making his return as Baron Zemo, this time completing his look with the purple face mask made famous by the comic book character. We also see Emily Van Camp make her comeback as Sharon Carter; the first time she's appeared in the MCU since Captain America: Civil War. Wyatt Russell also stars as John Walker.

Zemo isn't the only villain running around, with a paramilitary group called the Flag-Smashers making an appearance of which Erin Kellyman's unnamed character is a part of. We have learned something of her though; she's a good enough fighter to best Barnes, as proved by Falcon’s sexist prodding of his partner, in saying he got beat by a “little girl”.

With plenty of action promised, as well as semi-ridiculous scenes such as the bonding therapy session we get a look at, which turns into a staring competition, it’d be fair to say that despite the use of the typical MCU formula, this will be a truly unpredictable series.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier debuts exclusively on Disney+ on March 19th, 2021.
