Bonnie Langford - who portrays busy-body Carmel Kazemi in the long-running soap - is desperate to persuade the Hollywood hunk to make a guest appearance in the show.

She explained: "I think George Clooney lives in Sonning, doesn't he? It's not too much of a commute to London, so a little guest spot would be perfect! Carmel seems to bring him up in conversation a lot so she'd love it if he turned up and offered to take her out. I think George would like it, too, so we should put it to him. I'm sure Amal [his wife] wouldn't mind."

Meanwhile, Bonnie's alter-ego Carmel is set to be left heartbroken later this year when Masood Ahmed - played by Nitin Ganatra - waves goodbye to Walford for a fresh start.

However, the flamboyant star is adamant her character isn't going anywhere and she'll be around for a little longer.

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, the 52-year-old actress - who joined the show last year - said: "Carmel is going to be sticking around for a while, and she's happy about that. Being in a soap is something I never thought would be on my list in my career, and I'm still in awe of how it all works. I feel very privileged that I get to be the person who brings a warm, funny and feisty character such as Carmel to life!"
