Jeremy Clarkson, 62, James May, 59, and Richard Hammond, 53, had their most recent outing on the Amazon Prime Video series in ‘A Skandi Flick’ episode last September, which saw the trio jet around frozen lake racetracks, ski slopes and Cold War submarine bases across Norway and the Russian Border.

A follow-up installment - believed to be a festive special - was expected but never arrived, and filming won’t resume until October this year.

An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Devotees might have been disappointed and worried about the sporadic delivery of the specials. But they can relax.

“It owes more to the busy schedules of the hosts as well as the spectacular content which takes time to set up. But that does mean they’re unlikely to go out until 2024.

“The producers are set to start on the shows within weeks and cameras will start rolling towards the autumn.”

The show - which reunited the former ‘Top Gear’ stars - has spanned four seasons so far, with the first three featuring between 11 and 14 episodes, and the fourth being made up of four specials produced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

The latest season is also expected to be in a similar vein to the last.

One of the most recent hair-raising incidents saw James break his rib after crashing his car while going at 75 miles per hour.

At the time, he said: “I suppose. I did it deliberately, I knew it was going to be boring otherwise [so I] sort of drove it to the cliff!'.

“It was very brief, Made a loud bang. It wasn't really that terrible, I don't think. It looks quite dramatic but I was basically OK.

“But actually, because we managed to make the car work, we carried on, we lost about a day, because I had to mend the car, and I was in the hospital for the night. But apart from that, I don't really think it made any difference.”
