The King of Comedy title has been awarded to Jack Whitehall.

The stand-up comic was awarded the honour in favour of fellow comedians Alan Carr and Graham Norton following a public poll by fans, which was revealed at the British Comedy Awards at London's Wembley Arena on Thursday night (12.12.13)

Jack, 25, was also recognised for his role in Channel 4 sitcom, 'Fresh Meat' and he praised his co-stars for being "amazing" to work with after receiving the prize for Best TV Comedy Actor.

Other winners at the star-studded ceremony - hosted by Jonathan Ross - included Miranda Hart, who reclaimed the award for Best TV Comedy Actress after winning the title in 2011.

Alan Carr and Graham Norton both took home titles in recognition of their respective chat shows, with Carr picking up Best Comedy Entertainment Personality, while Norton won Best New Comedy Entertainment Programme.

Lee Mack scored twice on the night, celebrating winning Best Male TV Comic for the second year running in addition to seeing his BBC One show 'Would I Lie To You' pick up Best Comedy Panel Show.

Meanwhile, ITV 2 series 'Plebs' - which follows a group of adolescents in Ancient Rome - celebrated it's debut season by winning Best New Comedy Programme.
