The 'Holiday' singer has been forced to self-isolate, meaning she will appear on the group's talent show via video to support her bandmates - Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - in mentoring the acts for the first live show.

A statement read: "Jade has to self-isolate this week and will therefore be carrying out her role as Mentor on Little Mix The Search from home. For this Saturday's show, Jade will participate via video link, continuing to mentor alongside Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Perrie."

It has not been revealed why Jade is self-isolating, but currently government guidance says people must self-isolate if they have symptoms of the virus or if someone they live with has the virus. Those who travel back from certain countries must also self-isolate for two weeks following their trip.

It comes after the first live show was postponed after a number of the production team tested positive for coronavirus.

The BBC confirmed that the planned episode on Saturday October 17 would not go ahead as a result of the positive tests, but the show bosses were hoping the series would resume by Saturday October 24.

A statement from the BBC read: "We can confirm that a small number of people on the 'Little Mix The Search' production have tested positive for coronavirus and they are now self-isolating following the latest government guidelines. Due to the format of the show we have made the decision to postpone Saturday’s programme. There are rigorous protocols in place to manage Covid-19 as the safety of all those involved in the production is paramount. We hope to be back on air on Saturday 24 October."

In the programme, Little Mix - who are made up of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson - have put together four bands, all-boy, all-girl, mixed, and a dance group, who will take each other on in the live shows.
