James Haskell has predicted that Mike Tindall will be King of the Jungle

The 37-year-old star is close friends with fellow rugby player and believes that royal Mike - who is married to King Charles' niece Zara Tindall - will be victorious in his current stint on the ITV reality survival series.

He said: "Mike is very capable. He is very calm, he's a calm guy and doesn't suffer fools. So he's a big competitor. So, actually, a lot of people when they go into the jungle they have all these preconceptions and nerves but Mike just dived straight in there and got straight in. All the ideas you have of the things you're scared of - like I'm not keen on spiders and bugs - as soon as you've got food, campmates and other people to let down you just throw yourself into it. Mike is quite a private guy anyway and he's part of one of the most famous and best families in the world.

"I think Zara will go out there and I believe Mike's gonna win it so we'll see."

James - who competed on the series himself in 2019 and finished in eighth place - added that Mike has done "brilliantly" so far with his "competitive spirit" as he adapts to life in the Australian jungle alongside the likes of footballer Jill Scott, 'Loose Women' presenter Charlene White and pop star Boy George.

Speaking on 'Good Morning Britain', he added: "Ultimately, you're used to doing something that is bigger than yourself so trying to motivate people and understand when it's time to motivate people and understand when it's time to push and relax. Mike's done that brilliantly. He does that with our podcast, he does it with me, and he does it with friends and family. The only problem with that is it can sometimes spill over into competitive spirit. You saw last year with Naughty Boy trying to push people who aren't used to being pushed and don't know how to be competitive. I thought Jill Scott was fantastic, she just didn't bat an eyelid. You will see that come to the fore, that sports mentality."
