The TV stars - who first found fame as a trio by presenting BBC motor show 'Top Gear' from the early 2000s until 2015 - are now four series into the similarly formatted show 'The Grand Tour' on Amazon Prime, with 59-year-old James promising fans that the show will continue for as long as they are all alive.

He said: "[Driving around on TV] isn’t particularly arduous. There are bigger problems in the world. There are far bigger problems in the world. I think we'll probably keep doing it until one of us just dies."

However, James went on to joke that death may come "quite soon" for his co-star Jeremy,62, but because none of them are doing anything where their age would "count against" their ability, they would be happy to keep going until fans have "had enough" of them.

He told The Mirror: "Which might be quite soon, when you look at the three of us – Jeremy especially, but I don't think the actual nature of the filming will stop us.I know someone who's in the 90s still driving around in the car quite happily and that's what we do, so I think we'll be able to just keep going until somebody tells us to stop because they've had enough of us."

His thoughts were echoed by co-star Richard, 52, who added that he would "never not want to do it" because he appreciates how "lucky" he has been to get the opporunity.

He added: "I'd never want to not do it. Because that'd be rude to fail to appreciate how bloody lucky I've been to get to do all that."

'The Grand Tour' is set to air a special episode titled ' A Scandi Flick' later this month, which will serve as an opening to the show's fifth series.
