The controversial talk show host, 71, will appear in the US segment of the breakfast programme to cover the forthcoming presidential election as he reviews candidates' TV performances and discusses the results with Americans.

He said: "I'm excited about joining 'Good Morning Britain' in bringing stateside coverage of this year's American Election, which so far is looking more outrageous than the chaos normally seen on my television show.

"The consequences of the campaign, as well as the results, will impact much, if not all, of the world."

And that's not all as Jerry, who is known for fronting 'The Jerry Springer Show', will join 'GMB' live from Washington in November to reveal the results as it happens.

Meanwhile, 'GMB' co-host Piers Morgan probably had something to do with Jerry landing the gig as they know one another from working on 'America's Got Talent' in 2006.

Piers explained: "I got to know Jerry very well.

"He's an incredibly astute political thinker and I can't wait to hear his take on what is already the most widely debated US election campaign for decades."
