The '8 Out of 10 Cats' host - who welcomed his boy into the world almost two years ago with partner Karoline Copping - has revealed the inspiration behind his child's unique moniker.

Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, he revealed the toddler is named after Standard Oil magnate John D. Rockefeller, who is regarded as the richest American of all time, and the richest person in modern history.

And Jimmy added: "Also with a hint of Chris Rock, the greatest ever comedian."

Although the 49-year-old comedian has kept quiet about being a dad until now, he had joked he hasn't yet been softened by fatherhood.

He said: "It could be a bit of a gear shift, because of the kind of comedy I do. But so far, I’m still telling the same jokes, I’ve got the same sense of humour.

"We’ll see, because I’m sure I’m going to be writing a lot of material about him. In fact, I think he might be tax-deductible."

During lockdown, Jimmy did use the time to reflect on his life, and he ended up writing a book - both a memoir and a self-hope tome.

He explained: "I’m in my late 40s, and I view this as half-time in my life. We’ve cut up the oranges and we’re looking at how we’ve done in the first half.

"I feel we all have a moral duty – and, if a publisher gives you an advance, a contractual obligation – to reflect on your life, especially as I’ve recently become a father for the first time."

And he seemed to confirm the baby news last month, as he joked about his toddler during a recent London comedy gig.

He quipped: "I had to tell my little boy he’s adopted. I mean he isn’t, but the look on his face.

"I said, 'No, no, no you were adopted, the new family is picking you up tomorrow.’ "
