Jo Joyner has landed her first TV role since leaving 'EastEnders'.

The actress - who will be leaving her role as Tanya Branning in the BBC One soap in the coming weeks - will play Meg in Oscar-winning writer Simon Blackwell's new British comedy 'Trying Again' which will be aired on Sky Living HD.

Jo will star alongside 'In The Loop' actor Chris Addison, who plays her partner Matt, and the programme will follow the couple as they try to move on from Meg's affair with her boss Ian - played by 'Downton Abbey' star Charles Edwards - in a small town located in the Lake District.

Speaking about her new role, Jo said: "I am thrilled to be part of such an exciting project with such a wonderful team of not just actors, but writers and creatives. As an actor it is very exciting to be part of a project like this right from the beginning and have a true creative input."

Chris added: "We've been dying to make this show for years so it's really exciting to be getting it off the ground with such a great cast."

The trio will be joined by comedian Alun Cochrane as Matt's best pal Sam in the programme, which was also co-written by Chris and Simon's 'The Thick Of It' partner Tony Roche.

The series has been commissioned for eight, 30-minute episodes and production on it will begin in the coming weeks.

Joyner filmed her final scenes as Albert Square matriarch Tanya in May bringing an end to nearly seven years in Walford.
