'The Jump' is to return for a second series on Channel 4.

The broadcaster is pleased with how the first run of the winter sports competition was received and has commissioned another season.

The debut series featured a host of celebrities, including Anthea Turner, Amy Childs, Sinitta, Kimberly Wyatt, Darren Gough, Melinda Messenger and winner Joe McElderry, who took part in different winter sports with the ultimate test being a live ski jump.

Davina McCall and Alex Brooker hosted 'The Jump' - which averaged around 2.4 million viewers per episode when it aired in January and February - and Winter Olympic skier Graham Bell, skeleton British gold medallist Amy Williams and Britain's first ever Olympic ski jumper Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards were responsible for training the stars in the various disciplines.

The second series of 'The Jump' will air from Innsbruck, Austria, in early 2015 but no other details or celebrity competitors have been confirmed yet.

The broadcaster is also bringing back 'The Island With Bear Grylls' for a second series.

However, the programme will have a change of format with two separate islands, one for men and one for women, which will be used to create two separate programmes which will air concurrently on Channel 4 in 2015.
