American Horror Story: Hotel creator Ryan Murphy has spoken about Lady Gaga's involvement in the fifth season of the series, saying that the entertainer turned up to film a foursome scene with "diamond pasties and a Band-Aid on her hoo-ha."

Delighted to see her so eager to give her all in her scenes, Murphy explained how she was willing to go above and beyond for her character.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly he said: "She's the only actress I think I've worked with who wanted to do more explicit stuff than was written. You write a foursome for her and you expect a lot of questions. She never did that. She showed up and she was wearing diamond pasties, a Band-Aid on her hoo-ha, heels, and a black veil that Alexander McQueen made for her on the day before his death. Then the crew gasped in delight and we were off!"

Starring as Countess Elizabeth in the show, Gaga's co-star Matt Bomer will play her lover and filmed the foursome scene with her, wearing nothing but a sock to cover his manhood on-set.

A recent interview with EW.com saw Gaga insist she's going to throw herself entirely into her role.

"I don't view this as a side thing that I'm doing in between other things. Cramming things in just to be everywhere all the time is really not what I like. It's not what makes me happy. So it was planned out for me to do one project at a time and give my full attention to each so I can enjoy myself.

"I can give myself fully to the cast. If I were to saunter in here and not show true value to the work that's already been done, that would be a massive mistake because these actors have been working for years. They're extremely talented. I walked in on my first day and I was like, 'I am going to give all of myself.'"

Finn Wittrock, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Chloe Sevigny return to the series, with new faces including Naomi Campbell and Max Greenfield.

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres in the US on FX on Wednesday October 7 and follows in the UK on Tuesday 20th October at 10pm on FOX.
