The 69-year-old TV star has been named as the 15th and final celebrity contestant for the upcoming series of the BBC show, and Les has revealed that he's looking forward to the challenge.

The veteran presenter said: "I’m thrilled to be doing this iconic wonderful show as I approach my 70th birthday! In my career I’ve always gone for challenges outside my comfort zone and this is the ultimate one! Can’t wait."

Les is perhaps best known for hosting 'Family Fortunes' for 16 years, while he's also had starring roles in other well-known TV shows, including 'Brookside' and 'Coronation Street'.

Earlier this week, Annabel Croft and Nigel Harman were both confirmed for the new series of 'Strictly'.

The former British number one tennis player revealed that she couldn't wait get started on the Latin and ballroom show, because she's "always" been a fan of the programme.

She said: "I have always loved watching 'Strictly' and can’t quite believe I’m going to be part of this magical show - swapping tennis balls for glitter balls and looking forward to finding some joyfulness in the process."

Meanwhile, Nigel - who portrayed Dennis Rickman on 'EastEnders' - admitted to being "amazed, excited, and terrified" about his 'Strictly' experience.

He said: "As an armchair fan of the show I have watched in awe as people have twirled and gyrated across the screen. And now it's my turn ... gulp!"

Other soap stars appearing on the new series of 'Strictly' include Bobby Brazier, Ellie Leach and Adam Thomas.

Elsewhere, the likes of Angela Rippon, 'Love Island' star Zara McDermott and Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy have all signed up for the show.
