Louis Walsh believes he can win 'The X Factor' because he "always" picks "the right songs".

The music manager - who is the only panellist to have been on the ITV talent show since it began in 2004 - is adamant he has every chance at a victory this series as he is confident he has a knack for selecting the perfect tracks for his acts.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "If I get the right category and the right person I could win the show this year, no doubt about it, because I always pick the right songs."

The 61-year-old silver fox - who will mentor the boys' category this year - announced earlier this month he is to leave the programme after the upcoming 10th series because he wants to return to his day-to-day job of managing bands, but he admits he could be persuaded to stay on the panel if big boss Simon Cowell was to return.

He said previously: "I've been doing it 10 years. It's an awful long time to be on the show. I don't want to be pushed. I'd prefer to leave than be pushed. To leave on my terms.

"Now if Cowell came back, I might come back. The two of us, we would not stop laughing. If Simon called me up and said ... but, oh well. Let's see what happens."
