Sinitta, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh

Louis Walsh claims Simon Cowell asks him for advice.

The 'X Factor' judge insists the music mogul isn't as self-assured as he appears and says Simon regularly calls him up to beg for help with decisions on the US version of the show.

The Irish music manager told The Sun newspaper: "I talk to Simon all the time. He doesn't have to give me any advice - I need to give him advice for the US show.

"He is 54 now, he should know better!"

Louis, 61, is planning to step up his game this year to compete with hardworking Nicole Scherzinger, who he praises as the "best" judge he has ever worked with during his 10 years on the show.

He admitted: "The hardest-working judge has been Nicole by a mile. She has so raised the bar and she works incredibly hard. She is always on it and is never off stage.

"Nicole is the best judge I have worked with on these shows and we all have to work harder."

Louis - who is mentoring the Boys category- says the mood between the judges on the ITV competition has never been so good and he regularly enjoys nights out with Nicole, Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow.

He said: "I can tell you straight up that the four judges are best friends. We are not going to kick off. We get on really well and we go on nights out together which has never happened before.

"We respect each other and we know we are going to lose somebody on Sunday night but I'm just going to work hard - no tricks, no silly rows."
