With CBS bringing Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) to our screens later this year for the first time since the classic movie in the mid 80s, Kara Danvers otherwise known as Kara Zor-El is back to steal the spotlight from her hugely famous cousin in a brand new television series, including fan favourite comic book characters along the way.

Mehcad Brooks steps into the role of former Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, as the character even casual fans should recognise immediately, but he's also going to be joined by his and Kara's boss Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), Winslow 'Winn' Schott (Jeremy Jordan) and CIA Agent Hank Henshaw (David Harewood).

The reveal of Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane in the series came earlier this year, and with an interesting backstory and details being kept closely underwraps up until this point, those excited for the show will be happy to know some information has been given alongside a first look image of Lucy Lane in action.

Previously described as "strong, smart and successful in her own right. She's got a history with Jimmy Olsen and she's come to town to right a previous wrong," it's clear Lucy is going to be one of the most compelling characters in the first season of the show.

Joining in a recurring role a few episodes into the series debut this year, Entertainment Weekly revealed the Lucy Lane first look up top, along with details about how the character's going to fit into the story with Jimmy and Kara.

Executive Producer Ali Adler teases: "We hope to explore the history that Lucy has with James Olsen - or, as Lucy knows him, Jimmy Olsen. I think we're going to bring in her father. She not only plays a romantic foil with whatever Kara and James are brewing, but people will also be surprised that she's really a woman's woman. She and Kara develop their own friendship, too. We're not just bringing her in to purposefully create tension. She serves a larger story drive."

Supergirl premieres later in the year in the US, on October 26 at 8.30pm on CBS, airing at 8pm on Mondays thereafter.
