With Daredevil and Jessica Jones proving to be huge successes and major hits for both Marvel and Netflix, the next hero on the list whose roots will be explored is the already-introduced Luke Cage, coming to the streaming service in 2016.

Once those three characters have all become established in their own rights, Daniel Rand AKA Iron Fist will be the fourth and final to step up to the plate before The Defenders mini-series scheduled for 2017.

An official press release from Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb confirmed comicbook.com's report that Scott Buck would serve as showrunner on Iron Fist.

It read: "Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we've found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders."

A short yet sweet synopsis for the show was also released by Marvel, reading: "Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."

Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are both available to stream in full now on Netflix, with Daredevil season 2 and Luke Cage season 1 coming to the service in 2016. Iron Fist season 1 and The Defenders mini-series are expected to follow in 2017, but officially no dates have been announced.
