Mary Berry is in support of assisted suicide.

'The Great British Bake Off' star has revealed she would like her children to help her die if she reaches an age at which she can no longer look after herself.

She explained: "I certainly don't want to be a burden although under British law you can do nothing about it. But I would love my children to be able to give me a pill."

The 79-year-old cake queen - whose mother lived to be 105-years-old - confessed she has no desire to reach her 100th birthday, and claimed she'd be quite happy if she went in her 90s.

She told Radio Times magazine: "I have no desire to be a centenarian.

"I think 90 is a great time. You've had a good innings. I don't think very old age, if you haven't got your marbles, can be very nice.

"My mother was in very good health until the last few months. And health is key, isn't it?"

Meanwhile, Mary is set to appear on BBC genealogy programme 'Who Do You Think You Are?' later this month and she's confessed she didn't think her family was interesting enough to feature, but was shocked to find her great-great-grandfather Robert was also a keen baker in the mid-19th Century.

She said of the discovery: "I almost had a seizure. To think I had a master baker in the family. It was really thrilling."
