The 44-year-old politician - who was the UK's health secretary during the COVID-19 pandemic - will join pop star Boy George when they head to La Cucaracha Cafe on the next episode of the ITV show.

On Thursday, Matt took on the Tentacles of Terror trial and managed to collect 11 stars for himself and his campmates.

The controversial politician held his breath underwater and stuck his hand into a cage of lobsters, as he went in search of the stars.

But despite his impressive effort, Matt was still selected for the next Bushtucker Trial.

Elsewhere, Matt was also questioned by TV presenter Scarlette Douglas about his affair with Gina Coladangelo during the pandemic.

Matt breached social distancing rules during the affair and Scarlette described his behaviour in his ministerial office as a "slap in the face" for the public.

She said: "It was hard. A lot of people had difficult times. And then to see that people that had kind of set the rules had then broken them, I think was a big slap in the face for everyone."

Scarlette also warned Matt that he might not be embraced by his campmates because of his past behaviour.

She explained: "There's a lot of things that happened with you during the times, which does make it difficult because people are angry and upset - emotions are running high.

"We are not going to ever exclude anyone. We want to make sure that everyone's a family, but if it does feel tough for the first few days, I'm sure you understand why."
